HAWAII......
So that is where our missing 1st Eastern Raider Mustang went...Dale Pulde won the March meet in this car(when it was a real race not just a tradition to fall back on!!)  did I type that for real???

see the absolutely unique teardrop wheel bubbles ??? fasioned like a Ford Thunderbolt hood scoop!

Damn I did it..how's that for an old guy learning new tricks????

That car was a beauty! What happened to that car? What is the relation between that car and the Monza that appeared later on in the year?

Another question. Were you involved with the team in 1977 when Hanna lost to Billy Meyer on a hole shot (6.54 to 6.47) at the 1977 Grandnationals in Sanair? If you recall, Meyer had a big explosion catapulting the body in the air on that run.  It is too bad that the Eastern Raider mustang lost that race since Hoover smoked the tires in his semi-final solo run. Then, in the final, Prudhomme also smoked the tires. It could have very easily been Hanna's day!

What is the relation between that car and the Monza that appeared later on in the year?

Joe Mundet  owned them both..Al drove.. Bob Beaulieu and I crewed! This Mustang ll was Bill Lawton's Lindblad Pinto rebodied  by Lindblad after Al rolled it at Englishtown.
We debut it at Epping's sept race  and then and off to Ontario.. but It stayed there
Joe relocated to Ca and hooked up with Pulde/Pluegar on the replacement.
That car was completely rebuilt and 2 races old when it was sold out there.I never knew where it went..till now!!
after a few races  mid 1975 That Monza  mysteriously turned up missing  ...only the body was left behind.

Al and I ran my Pinto (as the Orig Eastern Raider Pinto) also rebodied by Lindblad after a fire at maple Grove, from 74 to 76...
No, I was no longer there in 77. I was with the Frantic Ford gang that whole season.

This was a somewhat interesting car. Originally a George's Corvette Shop piece, the body started out as a real Corvette that got chopped.sectioned, lengthened and widened. The drivetrain was offset to the right and the driver's thigh was resting against the transmission case.
When Ray bought into the Black Magic deal,he offered me this car less engine for $3,500. I said Uhhhh...Thanks,but no thanks.

Could be ....

One of the most finished funny cars of the seventies was the Pink Chablis. Owned by Rich McMichaels, the Pink Chablis was chromed, polished, and anodized from top to bottom. The Donovan-powered Vega had three drivers in its career: McMichaels, Jake Johnston, and JoAnn Reynolds. The owner was driving in this shot at Ontario. The car was seen mostly at Western match races through the late seventies. (Photo courtesy of Mike Ditty)
