Thanks again grovergroover and your dad's great photos that started this thread!!!
Grew up at Connecticut Dragway in the early 70's, but after seeing the photos of PID, it looks like an interesting track. Lots of funny car events, a building which funny cars were in? People sitting on the hill or hills? Anybody have stories?
Also, the first couple of hundred pages, I was just looking at the funny cars, now I'm also looking at the people, the clothes they wear, the street cars in the background, the transporters, the track, etc...this is truly a flashback to my teen years.
I purchased my first funny car chassis in 1985. It was built by Mike Kase. It was Tom Anderson white and yellow LN-7, the first funny car in the 5.70's.. was told it was Dale Armstrong last funny car, the Speed Racer.... I rebodied that chassis 3 times (Mustang, Tempo, and Firebird) and sold it. The new owner is running it with the Firebird body but is looking to get a 70 Nova body for it. My point is drag racers are great recyclers!!!
Seeing from great photos of cars, I have never knew about..love those local guys...keep them coming and the stories about them!
