Here is Don Prudhomme's US Army Arrow just as they rolled it out of the trailer for it's first pass ever down the track at a test session at Irwidale Raceway in 1977. The day before the start of the Winternationals.
This car went on to have an almost udefeated season at NHRA National Events on it's way to a Winston World Championship that year.

Tom Nagys pictures are absolutely awesome.  I've been waiting over 30 years for reference pictures as good as those. Great too see that version of the Hawaaiian Charger with Denny Savage driving.  I'd never seen that version and I remember reading that around that time Roland Leong got through something like 3 Charger bodies aroung the 74 season.
Love the paint on that Dennis the Menace Mustang too.
Keep them coming Tom and Vic.

A few pages ago, FC Fan1 was enquiring about a '72 Ford Torino Funny car and suggested I might like to draw one.  Ain't that strange.  About a year ago I sketched one in pencil as I always thought it would make a dandy flopper body for years.
I never finished it as It doesn't pay the bills, but I had a paint scheme in mind for it all along.  Although thinking about it, theres loads of liverys it could end up in.
keep it period!

Quote (Nor'Easter @ Jan. 29 2009,15:36)
Bill Dee, were you involved in this fiasco ?

yep..the beginning of it...
after that pic I called Dale "Team Car" Al saw NO humor in it.
That was our first Mustang ll; the rebodied Bill Lawton Pinto that rolled across pension, Road E.Town(on the roof)
After the World Finals 74,Joe decided to stay in Ca,since the streets are lined with gold and all....
That car / rebuild was 1 race old. We all went to Epping's Sept. race, finnishing the thing in the staging lanes.
It went to World Finals and NEVER came home
We had been running my Pinto ,seen a few pics down in model box paint by Tom Nagy, identifiable by the big wheel bubbles and  my trademark header deflector /paint saver, I still run today.
Joe got Dale to drive at a  west coast match race. The newest Drag News scoop  -Steve Plueger was building Dale a seat so he could return the LA phone book to where he stole it from.
Al was burning down the phone .All Joe said at the time was he needed to run the car to make a few bucks and Pulde was avail. The next thing it was listed entered in Pamona with dale as driver..
Me.."hey Al,this mean Joe won't be sending our plane tickets to go out there"??

We got my Pinto back to Lindblad for the 3rd turn around  of 92 to 426 motor mounts, sold off everything I had to buy up some usable 426 parts.to get it ready for a return to Gainsville 75

Joe and Dale won Bakersfield with that car. It was later sold and the Monza built.I have no idea where this car went from there. It should be easy to identify with the Mini Ford Thunderbolt hood scoop wheel bubbles.

I drove the Lawton Pinto a few times, I could never get the belts tight enough, so much so I shouldn't have driven it.

I could have used Pulde's phone book.......
