Carol Grove, Tommy's ex-wife and Sonnie Herbert Grove's daughter and Doug Herbert's ex-wife have quite a collection of stuff.  They have the red, white and blue Mustang that says Tommy Grove on the side, at least three 427 SOHC Ford engines (one is brand new, still on a pallet wrapped in plastic) and a lot of other racing parts but I don't think they have the blue Barry Setzer car.  I'll check into that today.

Speaking of Barry Setzer, does the Red Vega that Pat Foster terrorized  everyone with still exsist anywhere?

Bill

Sorry to correct you but the chassis under our car (Time Warp) in England, although it is a Buttera Chassis is not the chassis from the former Eastern raider / Crazzzy Jake Car.

What we have is a Buttera chassis from (early?) 1974 that was built for Chadderton & Okazaki with a Vega body and the BODY from the former Eastern Raider / Crazzy Jake car (Mustang II).

The exact wherabouts of the chassis are uncertain as due to separation of the chassis from the body in the 80's and the habit of racers in Europe to re cycle and update (who says Drag Racing isn't a "Green" sport!) any available hardware, the chassis - if it still exists - is unlikely to be easily identifiable.

There is one candidate in the UK but without any specific photo's or description of the rear end / axle mounting method we are unlikely to resolve it's true identity as it has been extended to 125" and now has A Arms on the front!.

Hope this clarifies a little.

Hi Paul

Just to make it 100% clear in my head - the Time Warp chassis is the ex-Gladiator/Mad Max one?

Cheers

Gary Richards had both the red and blue cars. Check with Paul and he can fill in all the details.

Ah Ha thanks Paul...
I asked Paul Richards where that Mustang came from since I was long gone at that point..he filled me in on the Vega story..I forgot there was another part to it.. but the car arrived  over there in one piece ;D

I was talking to the gent who restored Eddie Shartman's Cougar a while back..I asked where he got the orig cammer parts..He said FROM (former )Mrs Tommy Grove..he told me of the remaining inventory and that she still had the blue car...He was there I was not so that is where I got the info?? right or wrong that is the story.

I would agree with Billy on this. Two years ago when the Shartman car debuted at York, Keven (Beal) who restored the car spent a lot of time with Tommy Grove at the show. I know he got the motor from him.

The red Setzer Vega chassis turned into the Eastern Raider re-bodied with the Mustang
The red body was painted white with red and blue stripes named Snap-On Vega for 76 season Driver Gary Richards #139, deal went South. Father said it was before its time and people got nervous.
Al Hanna came on board and with more bookings so the Ford was purchased to use Raider name. Over 120 dates in 77
My father doesn't remember who bought them, red body went to someone in New Jersey and the blue either New York or Philly.
The chassis to the blue body???????????? We never owned it just got the extra body.
There may have been two blue cars and Tommy may still have one. So everyone who commented is correct in some way.
Sorry for the confusion.

Paul, I was told that the chassis was standard Buttera and dad didn't make any changes to the rear. Jake might have or know of the detail your talking about.
